The Pumice Vase is built around restraint. A broad, domed body rises from a flat base and narrows to a tight, clean mouth — the silhouette is architectural, almost monolithic, letting the surface carry the interest. And the surface earns it.
A dense, mottled finish of grey and warm sand is worked across the full body — in a clouded, mineral distribution that reads differently from every angle. In some lights it resembles lichen on stone. In others, the bleached surface of a dried riverbed. There is no consistent direction to the texture; it accumulates rather than repeats, giving the vase a quality of having been found rather than made.
The narrow mouth makes it a considered vessel for sculptural arrangements — a single branch, a sparse stem, an asymmetric cut — where the vase and what it holds are in quiet conversation. As photographed here, a branching specimen with small leaves and buds demonstrates exactly how the form operates: the wide, grounded base anchoring the spread of the branches above, the muted surface receding to let the plant speak.
A piece that suits interiors where objects are chosen slowly and placed with intention.
