Thrown and finished by hand, the Rope Clasp Terracotta Planter is made from unglazed terracotta in its natural fired state — a warm, earthy tone that deepens slightly with watering and ages gracefully with use.
The form is simple and resolved: a wide, rounded body that tapers gently toward a stable base. There is no surface treatment, no added colour. The clay is left to speak for itself — its texture catching light unevenly across the curve, the subtle marks of making still present on the skin of the pot.
Each planter carries a pair of cut-through handles, formed directly from the clay wall and wrapped tightly with natural jute cord. The wrapping serves both grip and detail — softening the transition between hand and material, and adding a quiet craft element that is entirely in keeping with the object’s character. The handles make the pot easy to lift, reposition, and repot without strain.
Terracotta is a breathing material. Its porosity allows air and moisture to move through the wall, creating conditions that suit a wide range of plants — particularly those that prefer soil that dries between waterings. Over time, the surface will develop a natural patina: faint mineral traces, soft weathering, the quiet record of a pot in use.
The set of three nesting sizes works well grouped as a composition or placed individually. At home on a shaded terrace, a covered courtyard corner, or a well-lit interior floor. Available in individual sizes or sets.
