Veena Ribbed Terracotta Planter — Raaga Collection

Veena takes its form from the instrument’s curve — a rounded, tapering body that narrows gently toward the base rather than stepping down to a flat foot. The ribbing runs the same fine, close vertical lines as Santoor, but the silhouette is softer, more sculptural, with the rib lines following the curve of the body rather than a straight cylinder.

The two shades sit close in tone but apart in mood. Chalk is the cooler, paler version — bright white-cream with the ribs picked out in a soft grey-brown, suited to spaces that want lightness with texture. Dune runs warmer, with a sandier base tone that lets the same ribbing read more earthen, more sun-worn — the planter equivalent of bleached driftwood.

Veena ribbed terracotta planter’s  tapered base means it sits with a slightly lower visual centre of gravity than Santoor’s stepped cylinder — it reads as settled rather than upright, which is why it photographs so naturally against gravel, stone, and other raw outdoor materials.

At 45cm across, the Large is substantial enough to anchor a courtyard or entrance planting. The Small at 23cm works well in odd-numbered clusters, repeating the same ribbing rhythm at different scales.

Each Veena ribbed terracotta planter is hand-finished. Minor variation in rib depth and surface tone is inherent to the process — it is the character of the piece, not a flaw.

Available in three sizes and can be picked up individually. Comes with a drain hole at the base.

Large: 45cm dia × 33cm H · Medium: 32cm dia × 23.5cm H · Small: 23cm dia × 18.5cm H

Care and Placement

Indoor and covered outdoor only. Keep away from direct rain and continuous harsh sunlight. Patios, gravel gardens, and shaded balconies are ideal. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.Drainage hole at the base. Use a saucer indoors. For succulents and other low-water plants, add a gravel layer at the base before potting, or drop in a nursery pot for easier maintenance and repotting.  For moisture-loving plants, pot directly with a well-draining potting mix, and check soil moisture before watering rather than on a fixed schedule.

Beena’s curating tips

Veena’s curve is the detail people miss in photos and notice the moment they hold it — run a hand along the taper and the ribbing follows the body rather than sitting flat against it. That’s the difference between Veena and Santoor, even though the surface pattern looks almost identical at a glance.

Chalk is the shade for gravel gardens and stone courtyards — it reads sun-bleached even when it isn’t, and that’s exactly the effect we want outdoors. Dune is the one I bring indoors against a plain wall, where the warmth carries the room without needing strong plant colour to support it.

Three Veena ribbed terracotta planters in descending sizes, same shade, clustered slightly off-centre rather than in a straight line — that’s the styling note from our own product shoot. Odd numbers and asymmetry photograph better than a tidy row.
